Corrective Thinking

Lesson 9
We shall continue our study of sound, considering today one of it's forms of manifestation, that of speech.
Speech is a very important tool of man, in that it allows him to communicate his thoughts and feelings to others. Via communication, certain relationships are established and evolved until eventually the relationship of brotherhood is realized.
Speech plays another very important part in a man's life which he seldom recognizes, though the world is more aware of the power of words than ever before. Speech is a tool which can be used to bring about manifestation. It crystallizes a thought and feeling into concrete form by setting up a vibration in physical plane substance which attracts it into manifestation.
While speech evolves as a result of a state of consciousness, and is therefore an effect, it nevertheless becomes in turn, a cause and brings about an evolution of consciousness as its effect.
For instance, let us consider man when his state of consciousness was such that the concept of want was first realized. He experienced a sense of lack, of need, and coined a sound which was the equivalent of our word "want". Let us say he wanted food. He was aware of hunger, was discontented as a result and sought food. Eventually his seeking brought him food and satisfaction. He was no longer aware of lack.
After many repetitions of this experience, man became aware of another want; a need for a mate. He sought her out and went on to new wants until eventually, many centuries later, man stood on the threshold of a New Age experiencing a new want, one for his Soul. He needed to fill himself with the Love of God and so his want became something new, an aspiration. The state of consciousness which had coined the word "want", had expanded and grown by the experience it had produced, until the consciousness was such that it no longer thought in terms of want. It aspired to God.
Students of metaphysics are taught to guard their speech and speak only after careful thought, for words have a way of producing the very effects one may not desire.
As an example, if a man declares over and over, "I am so poor, I want more money", he is creating the poverty in which he lives by his words. How could it be otherwise? He states emphatically, "I am so poor. I want more Money". All of nature contrives to bring his exact words into manifestation.
The words "I am" are an assertion of your authority in the world in which you live. We have already seen that we create that world with our thoughts and emotions. When we say "I am" we are asserting our mastery here, and whatever follows those two words is a proclamation that will surely come into being. Thus to say "I am poor" or "I am sick" insures the continued manifestation of your poverty or your illness. Such is the Law.
In man's efforts to shape sounds which will more clearly describe his thoughts, many languages have evolved. He uses many words to describe the shaded difference of his thought or feeling; the tonal quality of a feeling, etc. Would it surprise you to know that man, with all of his creative ability has never created a word which exactly and perfectly portrayed any of his thoughts? This is true, thus man continues to search out a better method of communication, newer and more descriptive words.
There is a word which expresses perfectly the true Self, the Soul of everything that lives. That word, when spoken with understanding, produces a sound which is creative. It will create the form, through control of the vibration of substance, into which a thought is made manifest. Thus giving it the proper clothing for its appearance in the light of day.
That word is very simple, being composed of just two letters,"OM". As an exercise, do the following for a month.
Think consciously "I am a conscious Soul incarnate". Then sound the "OM", singing it in the key which seems most natural.
